Programme Objectives
The principal objective of the SDP is to encourage and assist in accessing the public procurement market via activities geared to the specific needs of SMEs regardless of what stage of development they may be at. The SDP wants to engage with companies that are considering the possibility of tendering for public sector contracts already tendering but want to improve their performance successfully tendering and are looking for new markets
Our main priority for supplier development will be to build awareness by providing information on buyer and contract opportunities, providing education and training in all aspects of winning tenders and continually developing in line with any new progress in procurement. To help us achieve this some of our specific objectives include
- to be a pan-Scotland programme and secure six new local authority partners
- to increase SME member registration
- to increase SME tendering activity and specifically increase the number of cross-member collaborative bids
- to promote and increase the use of the Suppliers Register as a resource either for buyers looking for suppliers or for suppliers interested in working with fellow members
- to increase capacity at all SDP events
