The launch of Scotland Innovates is a giant leap towards new development in public sector innovation. Scotland Innovates is a supplier-led innovation portal, which was designed by a pan sector team, and aims to open the door to innovative ideas and solutions.

What is Scotland Innovates?

The Scotland Innovates service provides an easy-to-use, secure route to connect with the Scottish Public Sector and NHS Scotland.

Based on the principle of ‘push’ or supplier led innovation, the portal allows suppliers, citizens and innovators to register and submit ideas to improve or enhance public services.

Scotland Innovates aims to bring viable and approved innovations to market through a five-step process:

  1. Registration
  2. Innovation submission
  3. Triage
  4. Assessment
  5. Delivery

Which organisations are involved?

This service has been developed as part of a collaborative project between Scottish Government Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate (SPPD) and National Services Scotland (NSS), working together with representatives from Scotland Excel, Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC), Scottish Enterprise and Civtech, amongst others.

The Supplier Development Programme is raising the profile of Scotland Innovates amongst suppliers in partnership with these organisations.
