Join the SDP Team: Customer Development Officer Wanted

The Supplier Development Programme has an opening for a Customer Development Officer. Read more about how to apply for this exciting opportunity!
Are you passionate about customer service, and have an understanding of public sector tendering and stakeholder engagement? If your answer is yes, the Supplier Development Programme would like you to apply to be an additional member of our team!
SDP is a very busy organisation that represents all 32 Scottish local authorities, more than a dozen government agencies, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and many corporate members - which all work together to support Scottish SMEs, Third Sector and social enterprises in helping them bid better.
SDP delivers this support through tender training, eLearning, and engagement events specifically designed for Scottish SMEs, third sector organisations and social enterprises.
By delivering a range of Meet the Buyer and Meet the Contractor events, as well as through a corporate membership model, supply chain collaboration and Community Wealth Building opportunities are also championed by SDP, seamlessly feeding into the sustainable procurement approach of all 32 Scottish local authorities and the wider public sector to help Scotland achieve its wellbeing economy objectives and net zero ambitions.
SDP needs a new team member to augment its existing staff and deliver high calibre and multi-dimensional services right across Scotland.
SDP Staff Perspectives
So, what is it like to work for the Supplier Development Programme? We asked members of our micro team!
Elizabeth Bailey, Programme Assistant, is the longest-serving veteran member of the SDP Team. She said:
"Working for SDP comes with many moments of job satisfaction. It really hits home when we are able to support a small - or more often, a micro business - to have a clearer understanding of the procurement process and feel better equipped to take those first steps of bidding for a public sector tender contract, new supply chain interaction, or Community Wealth Building opportunity.
"As a key link between local authorities and Scotland's local business base, we have a responsibility at SDP to help improve and advocate for stronger supplier engagement, while helping to demystify the challenges buyers and suppliers face on both sides of the process with our experience and expertise."
Jennifer Payne, Development Officer - Marketing and Events, has been working for SDP for more than three years. She said:
"No two days are ever the same, and almost everything about this role moves at a fast pace. I love working for the Supplier Development Programme because we have a close-knit team that truly cares about encouraging small businesses into public sector tendering, and through strong partnership working with our member organisations, we actually make a difference."
