SDP Training Available via Webinar

Feedback quote from supplier on a webinar

The Supplier Development Programme offers all training digitally, via webinar. It is a proven mode of delivery that thousands of businesses have benefited from over the past few years. During the 2019/2020 financial year to date, SDP ran 46 webinar events with and on behalf of its 32 local authority membership organisations throughout Scotland. These events benefited 1,068 attendees from a total of 540 unique Scottish SMEs and supported businesses. So, what is involved?

What free SDP training can my business access remotely?

All SDP courses that are delivered in the traditional classroom style training are also accessible digitally by webinar. The Supplier Development Programme carefully uses the same course content for both styles of delivery, to ensure that you can feel free to choose your preferred style of training. If you are a Scottish-based SME or supported business, you can view upcoming webinar training opportunities in the SDP Events and Training section. You must register and log in to see which training and events to book.

Where can I access SDP digital training from?

You can join a webinar from the comfort of your own desk, whether that is in an office or if you're working from home. Though it's not the recommended mode of access, you can also access webinars via a smartphone or tablet. The Supplier Development Programme offers a step-by-step resource on how to access webinars through SDP's Top Tips on How to Join a Webinar.

What if I don't want to participate in a webinar after I've booked?

If you do not intend to attend SDP training via webinar for any reason, SDP requests that you login to the SDP website and cancel your place at your earliest opportunity. If the booking was made for you, please contact the person who made the booking if any changes are required.

What happens during a webinar?

After you have joined a webinar via the joining instructions, you will listen to a member of the SDP Team introduce the course. The appointed SDP trainer will deliver training, and you will be able to view a PowerPoint presentation as well as the trainer's live screen at different points in the training. You are free to type in any questions you have - your voice and image are not recorded. Your question(s) will be read aloud by the SDP Team, and answered by the trainer or by the SDP Team. A webinar does not end until all supplier questions are asked and answered, so you are encouraged to ask as many questions as you like.

Is there a limit to how many webinars I can participate in?

There is no limit to how many webinars you can participate in - it's free training, delivered to Scottish-based SMEs and supported businesses, wherever you are located in Scotland.

What happens after a webinar?

After you've participated, you will be asked to fill in a short survey to tell SDP what went well and what could be improved upon. Then you will be able to download the presentation from the trainer as well as any existing supporting documentation.

Additional Information about COVID-19

The Supplier Development Programme has issued guidance regarding our upcoming face-to-face training and events, which can be viewed on the SDP website. The Supplier Development Programme urges all suppliers to follow advice issued by Health Protection Scotland and NHS Scotland. If you are feeling unwell, SDP Scotland requests that you cancel your place by logging into the SDP website and that you do not attend training.

What steps do I need to take to sign up for a free SDP webinar?

First and foremost, you must register and log in to the SDP website to see which webinar training events that you are eligible to book. Secondly, you should view upcoming webinar training opportunities in the SDP Events and Training section, and be sure to hit "book" to register your place. The joining instructions and Cisco WebEx link will be emailed to you the day before the event, and you need to follow these instructions on the day of training.
