Strategic Advisor to the Supplier Development Programme

The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) exists to maximise the impact of public procurement for SMEs, third sector and supported businesses in Scotland. SDP’s role is to build the understanding and competence of Scottish SMEs and supported businesses so that they can bid for and win more public sector contracts and, by extension, private sector contracts both in Scotland and beyond.

The SDP Board is looking for a Strategic Advisor to provide additional resource to the SDP Programme Manager and Board to advise on future funding options to assist SDP scope and secure funding, create and develop SDP’s planning strategy developing the strategic vision: connecting SDP to key projects for business growth.

The role will be on a consultancy basis, likely to require up to 8-10 hours per month, and will include the planning and preparation of proposed objectives, targets and indicators for future grant funding from the Scottish Government, ensuring their alignment with Scottish Government national performance outcomes and wider SDP strategy, and subsequent reporting.

It is essential for this role to have good communication skills, a wide range of professional experience working in and around the public sector in Scotland, and robust connections to key development organisations. In addition, experience in supplier development and supply chain optimisation would be beneficial.
