Public sector buyers have been invited to participate in a Twitter Takeover of the SDP Scotland account today, 2 June, from 10:00am to 3:00pm, as part of SDP's Meet the Buyer 2020: Live Virtual Event. Suppliers are encouraged to follow the #MeetTheBuyer2020 hashtag on Twitter and ask real time questions to buyers, as well as participate in webinars on Frameworks & Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS) and Public Contracts Scotland (PCS): What would you like to know?. This blog outlines information on working with Falkirk Council, including information on procurement and business support.

Falkirk Council Procurement

Effective and efficient procurement positively supports Falkirk Council in achieving its priorities, as set out in the Council’s Corporate Plan. The Council’s Procurement Strategy 2017-20 was published in December 2016 and provides a corporate vision, direction and focus for all procurement activities within the authority. Falkirk Council's Procurement and Commissioning Unit website outlines more information for suppliers interested in doing business with the local authority. Suppliers can also access Falkirk Council’s Annual Procurement Report for additional information.

Quick Quotes

Quick Quote limits for Works contracts at Falkirk Council were previously set at the same limits as supplies and services at £49,999. However, the Emergency Executive recently approved an increase to the Works Quick Quote limit and it is now £249,999. Falkirk Council’s Contract Standing Orders require that local suppliers need to be invited to quote (where a suitable supplier exists), and as such the increased limit will come as a welcome change for local suppliers that were previously unsuccessful with tender bids.

The Supplier Development Programme offers free webinar training called Quick Quotes Made Easy, which is available to SMEs and supported businesses in Scotland.

Procurement Clinics

Falkirk Council provides extensive support to local suppliers through Procurement Clinics. Local suppliers are invited to attend clinic appointments lasting 30 minutes, available from 09:30 to 12:00. Clinics normally take place at The Forum, Callendar Business Park, Falkirk, FK1 1XR, however during the COVID-19 crisis in line with Government advice, appointments shall be conducted via telephone or Webex.
