South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE) launched 1 April 2020 as the new Economic and Community Development Agency for Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders.

SOSE was established by the Scottish Government in recognition of the unique circumstances of the South of Scotland, and the need for a fresh approach to drive inclusive growth across the area. The South of Scotland Enterprise Act 2019 was passed by Scottish Parliament in June 2019 and provides the legal framework.

It works with people and businesses in communities right across the South of Scotland to grow the economy by providing investments, expertise and mentoring.

SOSE helps boost the South of Scotland region's capacity and potential of people and resources by:

  • Playing an active role in supporting growth in supporting, bringing commerce and communities together, and streamlining routes to funding, markets, and success.
  • Showcasing the South of Scotland and highlighting the people and businesses that help drive it.
  • Supporting people and organisations that help the economy
  • Building and protecting relationships with communities and businesses, while ensuring access to any specialist services or advice they need.
  • Being a key partner between existing agencies in economic development and acting as the voice of the South.
