Join Renfrewshire Council as they host a Talking Tenders webinar about their upcoming contract for transportation. This event is designed to help suppliers understand the how the tender process will be carried out and give you a chance to ask questions on the day.
Renfrewshire Council currently operates the Framework for Transportation, which is due to expire in January 2026. This framework allows Renfrewshire Council to purchase transportation for children with Additional Support Needs (ASN) through taxi and bus operators awarded to the framework, as well as some ad-hoc requirements as necessary.
The tender has a master and four Lots
Additional Support Needs (ASN):
- Buses (Lot 1)
- Taxis ( Lot 2)
Ad-hoc:
- Buses (Lot 3)
- Taxis (Lot 4)
Mainstream requirements will continue to be procured through SPT.
Information about the contract:
- The tender is for a multi-lot framework to provide transport services (bus and taxi) mainly for children with Additional Support Needs in Renfrewshire, but sometimes further afield.
- Bidders must complete the Master ITT and any relevant individual ITTs.
- The framework will also cover ad-hoc transport needs for other Council services, including transport for adults (e.g. staff, residents, visitors).
- The current framework ends in early 2026, and the new one will run for 4 years.
- The estimated value is £4–5 million per year.
- Existing providers must reapply if they want to continue working with the Council.
- Once awarded, the framework will be closed to new providers for its full duration.
- Only providers on the framework can take part in mini competitions for routes.
- Some routes may require wheelchair-accessible vehicles and escorts - this will be clearly stated.
- Providers are not required to bid on routes that don’t suit their business.
- The tender is expected to be published in late November 2025, with decisions made by April 2026.
Agenda for the webinar:
- Housekeeping and welcome from SDP
- Presentation from colleagues at Renfrewshire Council
