Balfour Beatty opens supply chain engagement in partnership with the Supplier Development Programme

Balfour Beatty have taken up Corporate membership with the Supplier Development Programme (SDP) to support them reach out across Scotland to encourage a wide range of suppliers, including more local SMEs, and social enterprises to become a part of their supply chain and work with them of major projects being delivered for the public sector in Scotland.

Balfour Beatty has been operating in Scotland for over a century and the company employs around 2,000 people across Scotland. Joining the Supplier Development Programme, enables Balfour Beatty to demonstrate to its public sector clients how they can:

  • Support and improve access to sub-contract contract opportunities for SMEs, Supported Businesses, Social Enterprises, Co-Operatives, and the Third Sector as part of awarded contracts.
  • Contribute to Community Wealth Building and circular economy objectives locally.

Balfour Beatty will proactively work with SDP to raise awareness of our up-and-coming supply chain opportunities so that SDP can promote these to their database of over 20,000 Scottish SME and social enterprises, and through their local authority network of procurement and economic development officers and other support organisations.

Balfour Beatty will also participate in a range of supplier engagement events, webinars and Meet the Buyer events hosted by SDP to ensure that connection to the local supply base.

The partnership will continue to explore how supplier pathways can be enhanced and engage Scotland’s micro, small, medium sized businesses and social enterprises, that want to understand how to do business with Balfour Beatty.
