Forestry and Land Scotland
From 01 April 2019 devolution of forestry to Scotland will be completed on commencement of the Forestry and Land Management (Scotland) Act 2018 (“the 2018 Act”). The Forestry Commissioners, a UK Non-Ministerial Department, will no longer be responsible for managing forestry in Scotland.
Forestry and Land Scotland will be a new executive agency of the Scottish Government, established under the Forestry and Land Management (Scotland) Act 2018. It will be led by a Chief Executive directly accountable to Scottish Ministers and the Scottish Parliament. It will be established on 1 April 2019.
Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) will take on the responsibilities and functions currently exercised by Forest Enterprise Scotland (FES) and Scottish Forestry (SF) will take on those currently exercised by Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS). FES and FCS are parts of the Forestry Commission, which will cease to be responsible for the management and regulation of forestry in Scotland when the devolution of forestry is completed in April 2019.
Much of the work undertaken on the National Forest Estate in Scotland is carried out by suppliers, many of whom are small to medium enterprises or micro-businesses. We have a large, diverse contract portfolio that supports all areas of our business, including:
- Land management, including operations such as ground preparation, planting, fencing and forest road building
- Community and visitor services such as recreational path building and survey work
- Business support services and goods from office cleaning or training to stationery and fleet
How do I provide goods, services and works to Forestry and Land Scotland?
Details of our tendering opportunities can be found at Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) by searching for ‘Forestry and Land Scotland’ in the ‘Search for Buyers’ tab.
All of our high value tenders are advertised on this site and potential bidders are encouraged to register for free. Registering will give you access to a large number of high and low value public contract opportunities across Scotland; not just those advertised by the Forestry and Land Scotland.
We also use the PCS Quick Quote facility to invite quotes for low value goods, works and services, however we can only invite those that are registered; so if you think you’d like to be involved, please register on PCS, ensuring to complete your profile. Guidance on registration can be found in our PCS Supplier Guidance.
Tenders over £50,000 will be advertised on PCS, but will be processed through PCS-Tender. Find out more in our PCS-Tender Guidance.
We have a number of standard sets of terms and conditions of contract. For Works contracts we primarily use industry standard contracts such as NEC3. All of our conditions can be tailored if a specific contract requires it, and for more complex contracts we may use alternative/bespoke contracts.
