Everything Scottish Suppliers need to know about TALGO UK's Upcoming Supplier Event

TALGO is holding a supplier day in Chesterfield, England on 5 May 2020. Scottish Enterprise, a member of the Supplier Development Programme, is working to bring information to Scottish-based suppliers on this upcoming events, and potential upcoming supplier events.

TALGO is a leading specialised rolling stock engineering company mainly focused on designing, manufacturing and servicing technologically differentiated, fast, lightweight trains. TALGO is renowned worldwide for its innovation, its unique technology, and reliability.

TALGO aims for ‘true manufacturing’. Instead of assembling kits of parts from overseas, the company wants to source components from within the United Kingdom. This approach will grow the UK’s manufacturing capability, strengthen supply chains, create more jobs, and boost local economies.

TALGO already has a presence in 44 countries including Spain, Germany, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, the Middle East and the United States. TALGO is the rolling stock provider for the Haramain high speed railway line between La Mecca and Medina in the Middle-East, and provider of the new AVRIL train to Spanish operator RENFE.

A key part of TALGO UK’s strategy is ‘knowledge transfer’ – building UK domestic capacity for Research and Development. An innovation centre is planned in Chesterfield. It will act as a focal point for TALGO UK’s Research and Development, bringing together networks of engineering excellence, and creating new opportunities throughout the British Isles.

TALGO UK Opportunities in Scotland

TALGO, together with Scottish Enterprise and Transport Scotland, has also signed a jointly agreed framework for the establishment of Longannet, Fife as a manufacturing base for TALGO UK.

TALGO intends not only to build for the UK market, but also to serve emerging overseas markets, boosting UK exports.

TALGO UK Supplier Day in Chesterfield, England

Attendance will be by invitation only. Potential suppliers are invited to express their interest in attending, and to provide more information about their organisations. Please read the registration document and if you have something to offer, complete the form and return by POST, to arrive no later than Friday 20 March. TALGO UK reserves the right to limit attendees and early responses are encouraged.

By applying via post, Scottish-based suppliers will not automatically get a place on 5 May. However, it will help TALGO UK build up knowledge of interested parties, and show UK-wide interest.

If TALGO UK receives significant interest from Scottish companies and have to restrict numbers to the event due to widespread interest from across the UK, an additional Scottish event may be planned for the coming months.

One last thing: if you are a supplier that is already engaging with TALGO UK, this is not the event for you - it's specifically aimed at suppliers that have not previously signed NDAs with TALGO and are interested in potentially supplying in the future.

What are you waiting for? Print the registration form, POST IT, and register your interest!
