Forestry and Land Scotland invites suppliers to tender training for upcoming contract opportunity

Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is going to the marketplace with a contract opportunity for Ground Preparation and Mechanised Establishment Operations. FLS undertakes ground preparation on Scotland’s National Forest Land (SNFL) to establish new tree crops, maintaining the volume of timber brought to market and enabling woodland creation.

Forestry and Land Scotland is seeking ground preparation and mechanised establishment and tending services delivered to a high quality, in a safe, sustainable, and cost-effective manner.

FLS also deliver a programme of Peatland restoration services. Small elements of Peatland works on areas that are parts of coupes may be required over the contract term. Peatlands are found in both the lowlands and the uplands. The size and location of Peatland varies according to geology, terrain, and climate.

The contract is divided into 14 Lots, suppliers can submit a tender for a maximum of six Lots and the maximum number of lots that could be awarded to a single supplier is six. The Lots are as follows:

  • Lot 1 – Central belt, Fife, and Stirling
  • Lot 2 – Cowal, Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park and Stirling
  • Lot 3 – Moray and Aberdeenshire West
  • Lot 4 – Moray and Aberdeenshire
  • Lot 5 – Tay
  • Lot 6 – Caithness, Sutherland, Lairg, Dornoch and Easter Ross
  • Lot 7 – Strathspey, Inverness and Strathgarve
  • Lot 8 – Wester Ross, Glen Urquhart, Glen Affric and Loch Ness
  • Lot 9 – Scottish Borders and East Dumfries & Galloway
  • Lot 10 – Dumfries & Galloway, Ayrshire and Arran
  • Lot 11 – West Dumfries & Galloway
  • Lot 12 – Lochaber
  • Lot 13 – West Loch Awe, Glen Orchy, Lorne and Mull
  • Lot 14 – Kintyre, Knapdale and East Loch Awe

The duration of each will be Lot will be for an initial 3-year period, with the opportunity to extend for 2 x 12 months.

Forestry and Land Scotland will be using Public Contracts Scotland-Tender (PCS-T) to conduct the tendering process, and the Supplier Development Programme is available to support suppliers interested in bidding!

Additionally, all suppliers are invited to attend the free aligned Talking Tenders with Forestry and Land Scotland webinar on 13 January 2022. FLS will give an update of the scope of the contract and there will be an interactive training session led by SDP’s expert trainers, where you will learn how to register on the PCS-T website, how to find the contract opportunity and how to access the tender documents.
