HES launches Jousting Events Contract Notice

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) has launched a Contract Notice for Jousting Events on Public Contract Scotland (PCS).

The deadline for receipt of tenders is 11 December 2023, 12 noon.

With a value of £25-35k per annum (excluding VAT) the contract is due to last two years, with the option to extend for a further two years, which will be reviewed annually.

The contract includes (but is not limited to) a scripted jousting show of 45 minutes to 1 hour in duration, to be performed four times a year, at both Linlithgow Palace and Caerlaverock Castle, in late June/ early July 2024.

When delivering the contract, the supplier must provide:

  • Stage setting
  • Staging equipment
  • PA system
  • PA system operator
  • Set design
  • Tents
  • Props
  • Crew to set up and break down
  • Trained horses
  • Stabling and transport for horses
  • Actors trained on horseback
  • Supporting actors
  • Costumes
  • Script
  • Music/score
  • Set Design
  • Catering and accommodation for actors and crew

The requirements of the Contract Notice can be found on PCS, by clicking ‘Record your Interest’ then under the ‘Further Instructions’ tab accessing the attached Additional Documents.
