Inverclyde business can tap into £1bn City deal opportunity

Businesses in Inverclyde have a chance to tap into public sector contracts as part of the City Deal.

For, Inverclyde Council is bringing the City Deal partners to Greenock to allow local businesses to find out more about the opportunities available as part of the £1bn City Deal.

The event will be held at the Beacon Arts Centre on Thursday 16 June.

Inverclyde Council Leader, Councillor Stephen McCabe said: “Being involved in the City Deal brings investment to Inverclyde for the projects the council is delivering. It also opens up opportunities for our local businesses to access contracts. The City Deal is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get £1bn investment into delivering major infrastructure projects across the Glasgow city region.

“In each of these projects there are opportunities for our local businesses and this supplier event is a key chance for Inverclyde-based businesses to meet the right people to find out more. Also, if you’ve never bid for a public sector contract are have been unsuccessful in the past, the councils have joined forces through the supplier development programme to offer practical help to local businesses to get themselves ‘contract ready’. Inverclyde is one of eight councils across the west of Scotland delivering innovate projects aimed at boosting economic growth.

Inverclyde’s projects as part of the City Deal include the extension of the quayside at Greenock Ocean Terminal to secure the long term sustainability of the crucial cruise ship market and unlocking infrastructure at Inverkip to promote development of the former power station site.

In addition to Inverclyde, there are projects being delivered in nearby Renfrewshire, Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire as well as in both South and North Lanarkshire councils.
