Responding to Tender Policy Requirements - Power of Procurement

Feedback quote image

Public Sector Procurement is guided by several policy requirements that were put in place so that organisations, operations, and procurement exercises achieve specific, desirable outcomes. The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) has developed a core course training session to help Scottish SMEs, supported businesses and third sector organisations navigate this ever-changing landscape, so they can provide the most up-to-date policies on bids.

The most common policy requirements include topics such as Sustainability, Community Benefits, Fair Work Practices and Net Zero targets. These topics are becoming extremely important to buyers; so much so that the public sector expects businesses of all sizes to demonstrate how they are meeting these policy requirements in tender applications. However, an important thing to note is that though the buyer may not specifically ask suppliers to provide evidence of how the business is meeting these requirements, it is still expected to be included within a bid.

At the end of 2021, SDP refreshed all its core training content to help Scottish SMEs bid better and become 'tender ready' for any contract opportunity.

During the Responding to Tender Policy Requirements – Power of Procurement webinar, one of SDP’s expert trainers will give businesses an overview of the most common policy requirements and will give examples of what a business can do to meet these requirements. Suppliers will also get advice on how to record and evidence these in bids. Successfully providing evidence on how a business is implementing policy requirements is a great way to improve how high a bid scores and stand out from competitors.

At this webinar you will learn:

  • How to understand ‘Hot Button’ issues
  • What are the wider Sustainability objectives?
  • Wider strategy on Net Zero
  • Wider strategy on Community Benefits
  • Wider strategy on Fair Working Practices
  • How to record and evidence these in your bids
  • How to create your own action plan

This course is available to all Scottish SMEs and is beneficial to businesses who know about bidding but need to develop specific knowledge and skills. Don't just take our word for it! Suppliers who previously attended the course had this to share:

  • "I found it useful having the opportunity to ask questions to an expert in real-time."
  • "It was useful to hear what buyers are looking for when assessing Community Benefits."
  • "It was useful to hear the theory put into practical terms and relating it to various examples."
