Scottish Suppliers invited to work with the MOD on Land Integrated Operating Services

A new opportunity has arisen to engage with The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) as it considers future options for the procurement of goods and services. Project LIOS (Land Integrated Operating Service) recently commenced, which sets out to improve the through-life management of the Army’s current in- and near-service military vehicles and selected equipment (Land Equipment) in line with Defence and Security Industrial Strategy.

Key to the success of this project is the engagement with suppliers that operate independently or in consortia, such as Scottish SMEs, from the traditional Defence sector. The MOD is also interested in engaging with SMEs, supported businesses and third sector organisations involved in other sectors where relevant capability and experience could introduce innovation in the development of future support models for the MOD.

An event is planned to be held in early 2022, full details can be found on the Defence Sourcing Portal, with Project Reference: 702521452 - LIOS Pre-Market Engagement (Defence Sourcing Portal).

If this is an opportunity that you wish to explore further, then responses are required by 28 January 2022 via the DSP as detailed in the Prior Information Notice (PIN).

Support from the MOD

The Cabinet Office has released a Selling to Government Guide for SMEs. The guide supports SMEs who are wanting to bid for government contracts, including opportunities in the defence sector, either directly, or in the supply chain. It also offers top tips on bidding, where to look for contract opportunities and signposts to further support.

Support from SDP

Scottish SMEs, supported businesses and third sector organisations interested in this opportunity are encouraged to contact the MOD directly with any related questions. Suppliers may find SDP resources, including free policy templates, and eLearning courses helpful.
