SDP Scotland's Events and COVID-19

On average, the Supplier Development Programme organises more than 100 training events across Scotland annually. These free training events are delivered face-to-face and digitally via webinar. In line with official advice, keeping in mind that the situation continues to develop with regard to the Scottish Government's response to coronavirus and COVID-19, SDP Scotland is working with partners to move all imminent scheduled face-to-face training to be delivered via webinar, to postpone, or to cancel.

Previous steps SDP has taken with regard to COVID-19 (coronavirus)

The week commencing 12 March, the Supplier Development Programme issued updated hosting guidance to all 32 Scottish local authority members, as well as our other public sector membership organisations, regarding hosting face-to-face training in venues around the country. In addition to continuing to follow official advice issued through Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and Health Protection Scotland, local authorities were asked to specifically liaise with each venue for all upcoming SDP training dates to ensure the guidelines on Health Protection Scotland and NHS Scotland coronavirus advice are being followed.

The Supplier Development Programme also issued updated advice to all active SDP trainers, regarding delivering face-to-face training in venues around the country. SDP trainers were asked to continue to follow official advice issued through Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and Health Protection Scotland. In line with official advice, SDP suspended all face-to-face training on 16 March 2020.

SDP continues to work with membership organisations and partners to ensure that wherever possible, tender training is delivered via webinar, and that the full programme is available to be booked by webinar via the SDP website.

Advice for Suppliers Attending SDP Training

All SDP training is delivered digitally by webinar, and suppliers are encouraged to self-select what may be appropriate for their business needs. To learn more about upcoming webinars, which can be accessed from the comfort of your own desk, visit the Events and Training section on the SDP website.

The Supplier Development Programme urges all suppliers to follow advice issued by Health Protection Scotland and NHS Scotland. If you are feeling unwell, SDP Scotland requests that you cancel your place by logging into the SDP website and that you do not attend training.

General Advice from NHS Scotland

To minimise the spread of the virus, the best public information guidance is around hygiene and handwashing. This is the best way to avoid contracting coronavirus, seasonal flu or the common cold and prevent the spread. To protect yourself and others, it is best to:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water, or use a sanitiser gel, to kill germs.
  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze.

  • Bin the tissue.
