The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) welcomes its newest Corporate Member, Levenseat.

Levenseat was encouraged to become a member of SDP by Glasgow City Council. Joining SDP is just another way it can deliver open and connect procurement practices. Levenseat has entered this new partnership with the Supplier Development Programme to connect with more than 18,000 registered micro, small and medium and supported businesses in Scotland.

Levenseat has been a key player in the Scottish waste and resource management sector for over 35 years. It is an industry leader in the field of converting waste into resources, leading the way to a more sustainable Scotland. The company is committed to developing new innovations to recover the best resources and provide customers with environmental and economic solutions.

Levenseat's mission is to harness the inherent value of all resources, and it sees this as key to truly developing a circular economy. To help achieve this mission, Levenseat have developed Scotland's largest integrated facility that is home to a range of complimentary recycling and recovery processes, where synergies can be developed to provide the best solution to the market. These operations range from separation and sale of recyclates to producing and marketing end products created from waste materials. Levenseat also recovers energy from materials unsuitable for recycling, and its recent development of a heat and power plant ensures that it offers the complete solution and ensures zero waste to landfill.

Levenseat established the Levenseat Trust in 1997 which allows the organisation to focus on local and community projects. The Trust undertakes and supports projects, following regulations from Revenue Scotland and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA). The projects are aimed at improving the environment for the benefit of local people.

Angus Hamilton, Managing Director, Levenseat, said:

“We are so pleased to be joining the Supplier Development programme as a corporate member, we remember well our first local authority contract win and how daunting the procurement process can be for an SME. We now work in partnership with over 50% of Scotland’s local authorities and we are looking forward to passing on some of the lesson we’ve learned along the way. Levenseat have a long history of working with local SME’s as part of our sustainable procurement duty and we are hoping to continue to strengthen our supply chain through the Supplier Development Programme”

Gillian Cameron, Supplier Development Programme Manager, said:

“The Supplier Development Programme is delighted to welcome Levenseat as a corporate member. We will work in partnership with Levenseat to help facilitate the crucial connections required to help local businesses in Scotland learn about its opportunities. SDP will work with Levenseat to provide free bespoke training events, that will be available to SMEs, third sector organisations and supported businesses as well as businesses of all sizes that are interested in becoming part of its supply chain.”
