South Lanarkshire Council Launches Community Wish List
South Lanarkshire Council has launched its Community Wish List, a new scheme to support and facilitate the provision of Community Benefits within South Lanarkshire.
The South Lanarkshire Council Community Wish List is a new way that local communities can make requests, or wishes, for specific support from council suppliers or contractors that will benefit the local community, as well as local projects and causes. Communities can make requests that best meet their needs, and suppliers that provide goods and services to the Council can support these requests.
The list will enable groups and organisations to make requests for specific support to benefit their local community. The types of support groups can apply for includes:
- Volunteering Time
- Professional Support and Advice
- Donation of Goods, Materials, or IT Equipment
- Financial Donations
Chair of the Council's Finance and Corporate Resources Committee, Councillor Lesley McDonald, said:
"The Community Wish List is a great way of connecting local communities with local contractors who have said they want to help their area."
Applications are open to any community group, organisation, association or charity in South Lanarkshire. To learn more, please visit the South Lanarkshire Council website.
Please Note: South Lanarkshire Council cannot guarantee that a request will be selected or give a timeframe as to when or if it will be selected.
SDP Plays a Key Role in Supporting the Delivery of Community Benefits
SDP is offering Scottish SMEs and social enterprises free training on Community Benefits in "2.5 Responding to Tender Policy Requirements - Power of Procurement" course, on 25 May. Come along to learn what community benefits are, and ideas for and examples of community benefits that suppliers could implement into their businesses.
For the private sector side, particularly for primary contractors that want to engage with SMEs to fill out their supply chains and action Community Wealth Building opportunities, SDP offers Corporate Membership which strategically contributes to sustainable procurement and is recognised as a community benefit by the public sector in Scotland.
Meet the Buyer, which is officially partnered by The Scottish Government, is also a sustainable way that larger primary contractors can deliver a highly measurable community benefit.
