Supplier Development Programme Welcomes inclusion in Scottish Government's Response to Economic Recovery Implementation Plan

The Scottish Government published a response to the Advisory Group on Economic Recovery report, “Towards a Robust, Resilient Wellbeing Economy for Scotland: Report of the Advisory Group on Economic Recovery,” on 5 August 2020. The Supplier Development Programme welcomes inclusion within the Scottish Government's response.

Gillian Cameron, Supplier Development Programme Manager, said:

“The Supplier Development Programme welcomes the Economic Recovery Implementation Plan from the Scottish Government and a continued commitment to fund the Programme to deliver targeted tender training and events to support increased participation of local businesses, including the Third Sector, in bidding for contract opportunities in the public sector and wider supply chain.

“The Programme will take direction from our Scottish local authority members’ commitment to open up and connect procurement opportunities, as we support them in developing the tendering capability of local micro, small and medium sized businesses, and ultimately contribute to renewed economic development. We recognise that there is work to do in partnership to promote future contract opportunities to Scotland’s changed supply base, and improving the capability of local suppliers to bid. The Supplier Development Programme is a proven conduit to help businesses bid better, and increase their chances of submitting a winning tender.

“In the early stages of transitioning to recovery whilst meeting the new challenges arising from COVID-19, the Supplier Development Programme remains uniquely positioned to connect public sector buyers with local suppliers.”
