Supplier engagement and development It is the intention of East Ayrshire Council to exploit to the maximum extent the potential within the Procurement regulations and legislation to assist the local economy. The East Ayrshire Council Procurement: Small and Medium Enterprises Guidance Procedure provides information on how we intend to maximise opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to participate in local government procurement exercises. The aim is to improve access to government procurement, open up opportunities, support competition and reduce the administrative burden on SMEs engaged in delivering goods, works and services to the Council. The Corporate Procurement Team work closely with the Economic Development Team who are committed to supporting the local business community. The main focus will be stimulating economic growth by increasing the number of new businesses in the area, growing the existing business base and attracting inward investment. The Council is also committed to up-skilling our local residents to help them respond to the changing needs of local employers.
