Supply Plant Machinery for Roads Maintenance Activities to Orkney Islands Council

Orkney Islands Council are looking to establish an agreement for the provision of plant and machinery on an as required basis for the hire of excavators, cranes, tractors and trailers and other heavy machinery. 

The aim of the Council is to put in place a framework agreement to establish call-off arrangements for the provision of specific kinds of operated construction plant to assist with the planned and reactive road management and maintenance activities on the South linked isles, Outer isles and West Mainland Orkney.

A contract notice has been published on Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) where interested parties can access additional information and express their interest.

Typically, the duration will be short term on an as required basis for road maintenance works, street lighting works, drainage works and winter service provision. The agreement will be for a period of 7 months commencing 1 October 2026 and expiring on 30 April 2027.

The time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is Friday 11 September 2026 at 12 noon.

The estimated total value of this contract excluding VAT is £10k.

The Lot structure will be as follows:

• Lot 1 - Winter Service Provision, particularly Snow Clearance. The estimated value of this lot is £5,000.
• Lot 2 - Road Maintenance, Including Drainage Work, Road Construction and Excavation. The estimated value of this lot is £5,000.
