What is SDP?

  • SDP is a business support body
  • It helps SMEs get free tender training and to attend networking events
  • SDP also offers buyers support through outreach activities with suppliers

How do I register with SDP?

Visit https://www.sdpscotland.co.uk/register/

How do I join a webinar?

If you wish to attend one of SDP’s webinars, you can book your space by clicking “Book now” on the selected event’s page on our website.

Once you have registered to attend one of our online events, you should be able to find the meeting’s link by:

  • Logging into your supplier account
  • On the “My account” page, clicking on “Event bookings”

You will also receive a reminder email containing a link to join the meeting on the Cisco Webex platform. This is usually sent just before the event.

I'm no longer able to attend/I've missed a training session, what do I do?

SDP’s core training sessions (Level 1 to 3) are recurring in our calendar. Therefore, you shouldn’t worry if you miss one of the webinars.

As the same session is delivered multiple times throughout the year, check when the next webinar will be held, by clicking on the training you wish to attend in the Browse courses page.

Alternatively, you can access SDP’s eLearning platform to complete the training at your own pace, whenever it suits you.

I have an SDP account, but I'm still unable to access the training courses

All businesses are welcome to attend SDP’s Meet the Buyer events, Talking Tenders webinars and Aligned Tender Training webinars.

However, our core training courses are reserved for SMEs, supported businesses and charities that are based in Scotland.

Therefore, to access the training webinars, make sure you are registered as a Supplier and logged into your Supplier account, as the training courses won’t be available to book from Buyer accounts.

If you are still struggling to book your space, please contact info@sdpscotland.co.uk

I attended a webinar/Meet the Buyer event, can I get access to the presentation slides?

Yes, you can!

If you have attended one of SDP’s webinars or events, presentation slides will be made available to you once you have completed the feedback form that is sent to your email address after the session.

What kind of training does SDP provide?

Core Training - procurement guidance sessions ranging from Level 1 (beginner) to Level 3 (advanced). These 11 sessions give suppliers tips on doing business with the public sector, from understanding procurement procedures, to finding contracts, planning and writing bids and growing their businesses.

Bespoke Training - workshops that prepare suppliers to bid for specific contract or framework opportunities. These include:

  • How to Work With - Suppliers hear directly from buyers about their procurement processes and areas of future opportunities.
  • Talking Tenders - Suppliers hear directly from buyers about a specific contract opportunity, where to find it, and how to avoid mistakes other suppliers have made in the past when tendering for similar opportunities.
  • Aligned Tender Training - Post-Contract Notice Publication events that follow from Talking Tenders. Suppliers are tutored through the bidding process, by SDP trainers, who explain where to find documents and offer tips on approaching the tender

What's a Meet the Buyer event?

Meet the Buyers are free to visit networking events, where multiple buyers can engage with suppliers to discuss new projects, contracts, and framework opportunities.

Whether you are a micro, small or medium sized supplier, Meet the Buyer events can help you get into public sector supply chains.

Check the SDP calendar for upcoming events - you can book your place directly on the event’s page.
