A Rare Honour: Historic Environment Scotland Seeks Display Case Supplier for National Treasures

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) is offering a unique opportunity for a specialist manufacturer to design, deliver and install a new display case for the Honours of Scotland – the UK’s oldest Crown Jewels – at Edinburgh Castle.

The commission involves creating a single, high-specification case with integrated alarms, lighting, and environmental controls, meeting or exceeding Government Indemnity Scheme (GIS) standards.

The successful supplier will work collaboratively with a team including HES-appointed security, lighting, conservation and design experts to refine the case design and ensure its seamless integration within the historic Crown Room.

Installation will require careful management of transport, access, and handling, navigating the sensitive environment of Edinburgh Castle.

This is a rare chance to contribute to the preservation and presentation of Scotland’s national treasures.
