Help Shape Aberdeen City Council’s £900k Destination Marketing and Development Service

Aberdeen City Council is looking to engage suppliers around potential procurement of a £900k Aberdeen City Destination Marketing and Development Project.

This potential procurement would be funded through the Aberdeen Visitor Levy, and is due to apply from 1 April 2027.

A Prior Information Notice (PIN) has been published on Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) where interested parties can access additional information and express their interest.

The project will require destination marketing, city promotion, market intelligence, business engagement, product development and visitor economy development activity. 

The council is interested in models that would:

• Increase awareness of Aberdeen
• Grow visitor numbers and length of stay
• Support accommodation demand
• Amplify the city’s cultural, events, heritage, hospitality, leisure and business tourism offer
• Contribute to the city’s wider economic transition

Currently, destination marketing is delivered on a regional basis, through VisitAberdeenshire. The future service will need to demonstrate a clear Aberdeen city-focused proposition while collaborating with regional partners. It should complement, rather than duplicate, partner activity.

The council also wants to engage the market to understand how the service should interface with the Aberdeen Convention Bureau and local business events. The project should focus on supporting additional visitors, bed nights and economic value for the city.
