Fueling the Future: Shetland Islands Council Seeks Supplier for Marine Grade Gas Oil

Shetland Islands Council is inviting bids to supply and deliver Marine Grade Gas Oil (MGGO) to power its fleet of marine vessels. This opportunity is not just about fuel, it’s about keeping Shetland’s vital maritime operations running smoothly across some of the UK’s most remote and rugged waters.

The contract, valued at an estimated five million litres annually, requires the supply of ISO 8217 Grade DMA, FAME-free, and fully MARPOL-compliant MGGO. The successful supplier will play a key role in supporting the Council’s marine services, which are essential for transport, logistics, and community connectivity across the islands.

Under a 12-month single-supplier Framework Agreement, with the potential for three optional 12-month extensions, the scope includes delivery to multiple locations throughout Shetland. This includes direct fuelling of vessels, demanding precision, reliability, and responsiveness from the chosen supplier.
