Dundee City Council Partners with Supplier Development Programme to Provide Free Training to Early Learning and Childcare Providers
In order to meet the Scottish Government’s pledge to increase free childcare hours from 600 per year to 1,140 by August 2020, Dundee City Council will go out to tender in November 2019 for delivery of Early Learning and Childcare Services. The Supplier Development Programme and Dundee City Council, supported by Business Gateway, have been working together to help local business prepare for the tendering process.
Success stories: Consult Lift Services
Based in Renfrewshire, Phil Reilly has built Consult Lift Services from the ground up. Beginning with a course attended personally by Phil in 2009, Consult Lift Services has gone from strength to strength in public sector tendering by putting into practice what can be learned from the Supplier Development Programme.
“We started out by trying to win anything at all with public sector tendering in 2008, but we were constantly unsuccessful,” said Phil Reilly, Chairman of Consult Lift Services Ltd. “We wanted to work with councils, because you know you’ll get paid, but we just couldn’t get our foot in the door.”

“Horisk Leslie Development is a software development consultancy specialising in developing websites, web applications and database solutions to enhance business processes and improve business efficiency. Our work includes bespoke e-commerce websites, online booking and management systems, helpdesk systems and membership databases.
“The Supplier Development Programme helped us with our successful bid for a place on the Scottish Government Application Design and Development Framework.
SDP “Dovetails” Success with Social Enterprise

A Supported Business credits engagement with SDP for helping to win two public sector contracts in the Spring of 2019.
Dovetail is a Supported Business that manufactures certified internal fire doors as well as furniture and beds for the contract market.
This social enterprise is located in Dundee and has 52 employees. Dovetail was SDP's featured business for the month of June.
Supplier Development Programme Provides Free Training to South Lanarkshire Early Learning and Childcare Providers
In June and July 2019, more than 120 South Lanarkshire businesses were given vital support by South Lanarkshire Council, through the Supplier Development Programme, to make sure they are ready to tender to provide more free childcare places to local families.
