Update to NUTS codes on Public Contracts Scotland
Following an update to the Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) website on 19th July 2017, higher value contract notices which have to be published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) will now contain NUTS Codes - the classification of territorial units for statistics used by the European Commission (EC) to geographically subdivide countries to gather data.
Within OJEU notices, NUTS codes are used to define:
-where contracting authorities are based
-where contracts are being carried out
-within award notices, where the successful suppliers are based
PCS records the NUTS codes against the contracting authorities and suppliers accounts in order to automatically pull the code into the relevant area of each contract notice.
In a contract notice the NUTS codes can be found under section II.2) Description and then in section II.2.13) Place of performance.
Updated NUTS Codes
The NUTS code list will be updated from time to time. In the latest update, some new codes have been created and some old codes removed.
The EC has provided a tool that maps the old NUTS codes to the new NUTS codes. PCS will automatically update the NUTS codes stored against all supplier and contracting authority profiles where required.
