Winds of Change at Onshore Wind Developer Forum at South Lanarkshire Council Headquarters
The Supplier Development Programme (SDP) was delighted to contribute to discussions aimed at helping local businesses in South Lanarkshire capitalise on a £3.6 billion wave of investment in renewable energy.
The event focused on three core work streams - supply chain collaboration, skills and STEM engagement, and transport management planning – all aimed at ensuring investment translates into lasting economic benefits for the region.
With an estimated £1.2 billion expected to be spent on construction alone, the forum highlighted the significant potential for hundreds of millions of pounds to flow directly into the local supply chain. It provided a valuable platform to explore how best to unlock these opportunities for South Lanarkshire-based firms.
As one of the key partners attending on the day, SDP emphasised its role in helping South Lanarkshire businesses connect with developers, access procurement opportunities, and build capacity to compete.
With further forums planned, SDP will continue to work closely with OnPath Energy, South Lanarkshire Council and other stakeholders to champion initiatives that place community wealth building at the heart of this once-in-a-generation investment in renewable energy.
