SDP is often asked to disseminate research opportunities to Scottish-based SMEs, third sector bodies, and supported businesses that engage with us through training and events. These opportunities will be listed on this page as they arise.

Meet the Buyer North 2022 Outcomes

The Supplier Development Programme has published the final report for Meet the Buyer North 2022.

Meet the Buyer North 2022 was held on 7 September at the UHI Moray in Elgin. The headline partner was the Scottish Government. In total, 672 suppliers pre-registered interest on the SDP website for the Meet the Buyer North 2022 event. There were 345 actual attendees on the day. Of these, 238 attendees were from 192 unique Scottish SME businesses. Of those, 40 Scottish SMEs were based in the Moray Council area, 35 were based in the Highland Council area, 1 was based in Argyll and Bute Council, 19 were based in Aberdeen City Council and 29 were based in Aberdeenshire Council.

Stirling Council Community Wealth Building: Supplier Event Outcomes

The Supplier Development Programme has published the final report for the Stirling Council Community Wealth Building: Supplier Event.

Stirling Council, in partnership with the Supplier Development Programme, hosted a Community Wealth Building Supplier event at Albert Halls in Stirling on 12 July 2022. Local businesses were invited to engage with the Council about Community Wealth Building, as well as exhibitors from the public sector, private contractors and local business support providers with the opportunity to raise their profile for upcoming contract opportunities at this in-person event.

Open Supplier Meeting Outcomes - Civil Engineering Framework (Scotland)

The Supplier Development Programme has published the final report for the Open Supplier Meeting - Civil Engineering Framework (for Works & Associated Services, including Roads & Roads Maintenance)

The Scottish Government, in partnership with the Supplier Development Programme (SDP), has delivered two Open Supplier Meetings with representatives of the Scottish Procurement and Property Directorate, Contracting Authorities and Industry in relation to its Civil Engineering Framework. Both events were online, webinar-based events with the first event held on 27 January 2022 and a follow-up event took place on 14 July 2022. The first event was organised to hear the initial thoughts and views from contractors of all sizes including Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and SMEs interested in bidding for the future contract opportunity or being part of the supply chain for the National Civil Engineering Framework – for Works & Associated Services, including Roads & Roads Maintenance.

Meet the Contractor: Dunfermline Learning Campus and Westfield Energy Centre Projects Final Report

The Supplier Development Programme has published the final report for Meet the Contractor: Dunfermline Learning Campus and Westfield Energy Centre Projects.

hub East Central Scotland, in partnership with Fife Council, Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI) and the Supplier Development Programme hosted an in-person event on 28 April 2022 held at the Carnegie Conference Centre. The event helped local businesses engage with the headline partners and discover what contract opportunities are available as part of the Dunfermline Learning Campus (DLC) (£200m project) and the Westfield Energy Centre which will be designed, built, and operated by Hitachi Zosen Inova (HZI). On the day of the Meet the Contractor event, in total there were 132 participants, of these, 100 attendees were from 80 unique Scottish SMEs/supported businesses. Nearly half (49%) of all Scottish SMEs and supported businesses who attended were based in the Fife Council region. The post-event survey also highlighted that 96% of Scottish SMEs said they were more likely to bid for public sector contracts as a direct result of participating in the event.

Meet the Buyer 2022: Live Virtual Event Outcomes

The Supplier Development Programme has published the final report for Meet the Buyer 2022.

Meet the Buyer 2022 was held on 15 June as a virtual event. Headline partners were the Scottish Government and Scotland Excel. There were 728 actual attendees on the day, which was made up of 278 Scottish unique businesses. There were 457 live meetings and 95 live exhibition chats. The post event survey highlighted that 83% of Scottish SMEs responding to the survey said they were more likely to bid for public contracts after participating in the virtual event.
